Getting your portfolio right is essential, yet so many get it so wrong! Just like there are things you should and shouldn’t do with a CV, there are things you should and shouldn’t do with your portfolio.
The first time I personally submitted my inking portfolio to the big 2 at a convention was a complete waste of time as I later found out from my colourist and friend who attended the panel on building a portfolio at the same con. For reasons I forget I wasn’t at that panel but the feedback from my friend was invaluable and set me on the path of inking others and not just my own stuff. During that hunt I realised 2 key things (don’t ink unknown artists and ink sequentials) and picked up a few other essential points.
